Production and Rigging Resources, Inc.
Company History
Since its humble start in 1990, Production and Rigging Resources has always strived to provide the highest quality service and safest rigging solutions on all of its projects. With an established reputation for quality equipment and qualified personnel, ProRig has become a valued and dependable rigging resource for clients throughout the US and beyond.
Founded by longtime concert rigger, John Bleich, in a modest 400 square foot space, a vision was established to provide safe rigging services that go beyond the expectations of the client. Relying on experience dating back to clients such as Frank Zappa and Van Halen, John recognized the need for qualified and dependable rigging experts with high quality well maintained equipment.
Between working on tours for artists such as Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, and Madonna, John began to collect an inventory of rigging equipment ranging from chain hoists to truss and all the necessary hardware in between. Working by himself for his first 3 years in business, John began to build the business in the Dallas market as a rigging equipment and solutions provider.
This quickly evolved into providing not only equipment, but full labor support for live event production. In 1995, Production and Rigging Resources began to assemble a multi-disciplined labor pool that has evolved to over 200 qualified stage hands, lighting techs, and of course, riggers.
As the reputation grew, Production and Rigging Resources started to receive calls to provide rigging expertise for permanent installations. The first installation, in a church in 1998, marked the beginning of a new aspect to the company that continues to grow and takes on more and more ambitious projects every year.
John’s contribution to the entertainment industry has not been limited to equipment rental and installation services. In 2005, John was tapped to be an arena rigging Subject Matter Expert for the newly established Entertainment Technology Certification Program. Through his involvement, along with other highly respected rigging professionals as SME’s, the ETCP program created a consistent testing and certification program for the entertainment and exhibit industry.
Today, ProRig continues to grow. The fulltime staff includes experts in construction, installation, and safety. As a part of the PLASA Technical Standards program, ProRig staff have been involved in the creation of ANSI standards for the rigging industry ranging from truss, and outdoor structures to hoist selection and portable fall protection systems. Installations have gone well beyond local and have included some of the newest major sporting venues in the US. And, housed in 37,000 square feet, the rental equipment inventory has grown to nearly 500 chain hoists and 10,000 feet of aluminum truss.
The consistent key to the success of ProRig has been the desire and vision to exceed expectations. This has led to a never ending quest to improve the quality of what any client receives when they hire Production and Rigging Resources. This dedication to service and safety will be hallmarks that take ProRig to the next level of success.
